Terri Wurmser, MSW
Terri Wurmser, MSW, joined the House Of Ruth Maryland 1994. Ms. Wurmser was Director of Programs until 2009, during which time she was responsible for oversight, management, and the expansion and development of residential services (emergency shelter and transitional housing), children and youth services (residential and community-based), and abuser intervention services. A member of the senior management team, Ms. Wurmser has been instrumental in securing federal/state/local grant funding, managing multi-year grant initiatives, including the House Of Ruth’s AmeriCorps Program.
In 2009, Ms. Wurmser transitioned to a newly created position at the House Of Ruth and currently serves as Director of Social Enterprises & Special Projects. She is developing a business plan for the House Of Ruth’s first social enterprise, Ruth’s Closet, a resale boutique that will generate revenue to support programs and services for battered women and their children and, importantly, create work experience opportunities for House Of Ruth clients. Ms. Wurmser has a track record of creating revenue-generating projects, specifically B-More Bags. Exclusively volunteer supported, B-More Bags volunteers make and sell purses to support the House Of Ruth’s Emergency Fund. Since it’s inception in 2005 more than $40,000 in revenue has been raised through sales of B-More Bags.
Prior to joining the House Of Ruth Maryland, Ms. Wurmser was the Director of Program Services for the New York State Division of Parole for nine years, during which time she created regional program services units and directed planning and program development to improve service delivery systems for parolees.
