Adopt A Family and Holiday Programs

The holidays are meant to be a time of peace, harmony and goodwill. Unfortunately, the incidences of domestic violence don't decrease just because it is the holiday season. This time of year can be difficult for so many, especially those who have fled their home to escape abuse.

To help the women and children we serve experience a joyous holiday, the House Of Ruth Maryland sponsors the Adopt A Family program each year. Adopters are provided with a profile of the family that lists the age, gender and clothing sizes of each family member along with a short wish list of items specifically from the family.

During the 2011 Holiday season, 450 families were adopted by local individuals, churches, schools and businesses. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the program.
