Resident Advocate

The Residential Program is seeking three Resident Advocates to join their team. The positions have varying shifts and days of duty - 18 hours per week, 21 hours per week, and 30 hours per week respectively.  The Resident Advocate is an essential staff position primarily responsible for covering the daily operations of the Shelter program, including welcoming and orienting new residents to the program, providing crisis intervention and conflict resolution services to residents, and daily enrichment activities to improve shelter stay.  This position is also responsible for back up coverage on the 24 hour hotline and back up coverage for operation activities such as readying a room for occupancy, accepting and distributing donations, and light housekeeping.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or Associates plus 3 years of experience in client centered advocacy or residential program. Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills with a strong ability to relate to a diverse range of individuals including victims, children, donors, and community professionals.

Be able to work in a fast paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Knowledge of local human service resources. Experience with conflict resolution/ mediation.


Case Manager

The Client Services Program is seeking a Case Manager to join their team. The Case Manager is primarily responsible for providing continuous coordination of services for victims seeking services with the HRM.  This position is responsible for welcoming and orienting new residents to the program, providing crisis intervention and safety planning, developing an intervention strategy, support system, connection to programs.  Offsite visits are a part of the services offered to clients.  This position is also responsible for contact center coverage on the 24 hour hotline.

Bachelors degree in human services field or five years experience providing counseling, case management, or client centered advocacy.  Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence.  Knowledge of local human services programs/ agencies and housing resources. Excellent oral and written interpersonal skills with a strong ability to relate to a diverse range of individuals including victims, children, donors, business leaders, human service providers, and donors. Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and timelines. Clean driving record, current state driver’s license, and reliable personal transportation. Must pass Criminal Background Check.

 


Staff Attorney

The House Of Ruth Maryland Domestic Violence Legal Clinic seeks a Staff Attorney to represent victims of domestic violence. The Staff Attorney advises and represents victims of domestic violence in Protection or Peace Order proceedings, insures that clients are seen and advised of their legal rights promptly and that all clients requesting representation be accepted or rejected promptly, and by providing timely reporting of services provided for funding reports. 

The candidate must be admitted to the Maryland Bar and must possess the ability to learn and litigate civil and domestic law. Familiarity with criminal law is also helpful. The candidate must also be able to advocate effectively for victims of domestic violence and have the ability to work with a diverse population.  Excellent interpersonal, client interviewing, time management, supervisory and office maintenance skills required. Excellent writing and computer skills also required. Some travel is necessary among HRM offices and courthouse offices.
